Today has turned out to be one of those weird days where you can't quite tell if things are falling apart or looking up. As such, I'm making tea, watching Medium, folding my laundry, and sorting the file box full of photocopied articles into "useful for thesis" and "I love really random things" piles.

Examples from the "useful for thesis" pile include W.T. Stead's articles entitled "Government By Journalism," "The Future of Journalism," "Character Sketch: Times," and "Chinese Gordon." For modern articles, I have press history theory, communications theory, and some stuff about social conditions in turn of the century London.

Examples from the "I love really random things" pile include anonymously written articles from the 1800s on the treatment of "feeble minded children," an article on palmistry, travel accounts, and a number of accounts of the Duke of Wellington's funeral. On the modern side of things, there's some stuff on map reception and the illusion of objective representation, an article on DNA analysis, and some random stuff on the Bayeux Tapestry.

One day, I swear I'm going to read all these things that I've photocopied for interest.

Ooh, show's on.

Sweetie? Why for don't I like Medium? It has all the elements I like. Psychics. Cops. Patricia Arquette. Precocious, possibly psychic, children. Jake Weber. So...why don't I like?

I dunno -- I like it. Especially the hot rocket scientist husband. *g*

Do you find it boring or do you just flat out not like it?

It might be the Based on a True Story factor. I tend not to like shows like that, which then vear in the 'not based at all on her real life' direction. Like The Huntress, and the one about the family of undercover agents.

It might be The Dead Zone factor. I really can't figure it out. It's a tad flat, I think. Her dreams are a bit TOO clear, maybe. I'm having a similar problem with Joan of Arcadia, and I LOVED that last season.
