- do lots of work on the new laptop, beacause I am very behind since my old one died a week and a half ago. :/
- drink coffee.
- eat stuff.

Woot woot. One down already.

Just got onto the bus to the family planning clinic for my contraceptive injection...and am SURROUNDED by babies. There are three in the seats around me and more upstairs.

Most of them are crying or yelling.

It's a warning from the universe about the perils of being careless with contraception!

Made a massive batch of homemade perogies for dinner tomorrow. First ever attempt. Hopefully they don't dissolve the second they hit the water. Fingers crossed!

In other news, also made a birthday cake from scratch as the Eff turned 35 today. It was a resounding success - both the birthday and the cake.

Back to work tomorrow after a day off due to badly damaged knee. A souvenir of the weekend when trying to walk and dance in heels backfired. Still not sure I'll be able to manage the stairs, but don't want to miss anymore time.

My mother-in-law-to-be and I are at a spa today. I bought her a treatment for two for her birthday. She raised two strapping boys and experienced a distinct deficit of girly activities, which is what made me think of a spa thing for her birthday. Of course, as my own mother points out, SHE never did spa day things with either of the two GIRLS she raised, so it's not particularly reflective.

(mental note: book spa and pampering time for mom, sister and I for Christmas!)

In any case mother-in-law-to-be and I are each getting a 40 minute facial, along with a head and shoulder massage, followed by a traditional cream tea (tiny sandwiches, pastries, jams, etc.) and a glass of champagne.

The facial seems to involve a lot of scraping and peeling and exfoliating. I won't be recognisable afterwards! Under this face, I have a completely different face waiting to be revealed.

Air India = awesome! Great leg room seat size, and comfort. Also, hopefully, great food!

Watching the Stage 2 highlights from yesterday while Stage 3 tapes today. The commentators have spent the last half an hour billing and cooing about Mark Cavendish - what a great cyclist he is, how gracious he is towards his team, how he is always willing to sacrifice his own achievement for the good of the team, etc. They're about two seconds away from offering to have his babies.

In other news, the Eff came home from the grocery store today clutching the official Tour guide for me. He said he was thinking of picking up some flowers, but thought I'd like that better. I knew I agreed to marry him for a reason. He even pretends to listen when I talk about the Tour for hours on end! That's love, that is. ;)

Tour, Tour, Tour! I am watching the highlights from the first stage while marking. Whee!

(WTF, Lance Armstrong? That is so 2005!)

Happy Canada Day!

Once the nasty business of teaching is out of the way, am off to Canada Day in Trafalgar Square festivities this evening. Bison burgers, Sleeman's beer, and free concert - woot!

Ugh, morning, no, bad. You would think I'd get the hang of these things eventually, but apparently not.

Were on our way to a film and got scooped up for a test screening of The Tournament starring Robert Carlyle. Exciting!

HO YEAH WOLVERINE: ORIGINS!

I was hoping it would be good - I loved the original comic series when it came out. But it was phenomenal.

INTERNETZ GO SEE IT SO WE CAN SQUEE TOGETHER!

To celebrate the arrival of summer like weather, I have made a fruit tart! Fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries with custard poured over the top. Mmm, pie.

In semi related news, I have resolved to start riding my bike to school on nice days as I need to work off the winter pudge. Am hoping this will help counteract my new-found love of cooking and baking.

In Poland with 26 14/15 year olds. We've been to Auschwitz and down a salt mine so far. We also went ice skating and to a water park. Heading out by coach today to Beelin. The kids have been great, but I have to say that I am looking forward to no longer having an entourage everywhere I go!

Job interview tomorrow -- around my usual teaching schedule! Eep!

Long live the iPhone and the ability to have the internet in my pocket everywhere I go.

Hello. I got engaged tonight. I am too happy for words. I will describe the moment and everything in more detail when I (eventually) stop flapping and bouncing and billing and cooing.

:)
