I always want to nap in the middle of the day but, today, resisted the temptation. I am hoping that it will make it easier to fall asleep tonight.
I love flying. But, then again, I grew up doing it. My father was a mechanic in the Air Force from WWII through to his retirement in the late 70s. My father was in Air Cadets until he was 18 -- when he left, he was the highest ranking Air Cadet in all of Canada. He's always had his pilot's liscence and we've always, for as long as I've been alive, had a plane. Just little four-seater things.
I want to get my pilot's liscence some day. I was actually thinking of doing it this summer -- there's a program at the airport where we keep our plane and it is very undersubscribed, so you pay for group instruction but end up getting one-on-one -- but my back wasn't up to it. :(
I've been doing it my whole life! For a lot longer than I've been driving a car, anyway.
My grandfather was in the Air Force his entire life and my father was the highest ranking officer in the Air Cadets in all of Canada when he left it at 18. He's had his pilot's liscence since he was sixteen and has owned at least one plane since before I was born.
The plane we currently have is a Piper Archer -- it's a little four seater thing with low wings. I can do everything except for take off and land in it -- that's my father's job and my father's job only.
I do hope to get my pilot's liscence some day. I love flying.

(I've been up in a little plane exactly once: never again)
