My life lately is quite busy. Also odd. Example, this week.

I had my very first, er, lady's exam today -- I was informed that I have a beautiful cervix and handed three free packages of birth control pills, which I am to start taking so as to force my horribly unpredictable cycle to regularise. But I must not take them until I get back from Kenya, I was sternly informed, as it would be unfortunate for me to find out that I do not react well to the pills while on a different continent from my doctor.

By the end of my doctor's appointment, the side effects of the Dukarol, an oral vaccine I took last night, had kicked in. Dukarol is a preventative measure against ecoli, cholera, and other causes of the typical traveller's complaint. It prevents all sorts of horrible sensations. It also causes all kinds of horrible sensations, such as fever, light headedness, stomache aches, head aches, and nausea, all of which persisted, in waves, throughout the day.

Then I went to class, which I ignored in favour of emailing [livejournal.com profile] mcee to complain about my day (her contribution -- "there is a joke in there somewhere that relates your cervical examination with today's federal elections...I just can't quite put my finger on it...").

Then, despite my desire to simultaneously pass out and vomit, I went to vote, as I am a good Canadian with a great deal of faith in responsible government and a healthy fear of the concept of a Conservative majority. When I went up to the table, the polling officers said, "[insert my last name here]? As in, Travis?"

Who is, in fact, my dog.

Quite surreal.

We switch now from past to future tense as I give you a glimpse of the rest of my week.

Tomorrow, I will be presenting in Science class on the human heart and circulatory system. As someone who has never taken a Biology class and who, in fact, even dropped Chemistry after grade 11, I am finding the preparation for this presentation somewhat challenging.

Tomorrow night, the entire group of student teachers heading to Kenya are meeting at one of our faculty advisor's houses for pizza.

Wednesday, I will be presenting in History class, thank heavens. That, at least, I feel fairly confident of.

Thursday is presentation free, although I have a written assignment due in Language Arts. My usual night class (Issues in International Education) has been pushed back that evening from 6:30-9:30 to 7:30-10:30 in order to accomodate the schedule of the ESL instructor who is coming in to give us a workshop.

Friday, I have another written assignment due in Music class. I will also be applying for a job for next year with a company that places teachers in England in that afternoon's gigantic education job fair. This means I have to get my portfolio (both paper and electronic), my website, and my resume all done up by then. Just, you know, in my free time this week. I am going in tomorrow to scan things in so that I can wedge them into my electronic portfolio.

Saturday, if all goes well, I will be interviewed by the aforementioned company. I will also be playing on my section's intramural ball hockey team and I will be trying to find the time to attend the official opening of the art show featuring two of my pieces among those of several other Bachelor of Education students at a downtown art gallery.

Sunday, will be spent writing the two or three assignments due between Monday and Tuesday of next week so as to free up next week's evenings to work on the many assignments due Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Also in there somewhere, I have to finish the lesson plan I am writing for submission to the Toronto Star and pack for Kenya, as we are leaving two weeks from today and I need to, y'know, get on that packing thing so as not to arrive in Africa with inadequate underpants and socks.

All very exciting.

omg.
