(no subject)

So I am going to whine in my own journal, instead (ha ha).
There are many, many things I love about teaching. One of the things that I do not love is this:
When you've had a catastrophically bad day and your lessons have gone wrong and the kids were pushing their boundaries or, worse, totally disengaged and looking blank, all you want to do is crawl into bed, pull the covers over your head, and sleep until it is tomorrow. Instead, it is after those days that you have to work the hardest to figure out what went wrong, how to prevent it from going wrong again, and how to fix what went wrong today. Then, tomorrow, you have to get up and go back into the exact same room with the exact same kids and the exact same subject matter and hope that it turns out differently.
Stupid profession.
Some very nice things happened today, but I ended on a very bad lesson and an even worse staff meeting, which has put a pall on the entire day.
