The phone rang at 6:40 this morning. I flailed from within my tangle of blankets to answer it. [livejournal.com profile] mcee was on the other end.

"I'm in the lobby! I have coffee! Can I come up?"

Of course, I buzzed her in. I could never turn away someone bearing coffee.1 I stumbled out of bed to the front door and, when I had my hand on the lock, it occurred to me that I may have dreamed the entire conversation. It has, in fact, happened before. I fairly frequently dream that someone has brought me coffee in bed, only to wake up and find myself both someone- and coffee-less. So very disappointing.

As it turns out, the call did actually happen, there was, indeed, coffee, and now [livejournal.com profile] mcee is fast asleep on my couch. I am tidying around her. When I get through tidying and laundry and the other assorted Sunday morning things, we're going to go have lunch.

Mmm, coffee.

You know, the only time anyone has ever roused me from sleep by ringing the doorbell [only once! which says more for the fact that I wake up early more than anything else, I think] I tripped down the last two stairs and sprained my ankle so badly I couldnt; walk for two weeks then was hobbling for another four.

I am relieved to note that the prospect of coffee seems to have a steadying effect on you when woken up like that.
